Practice
Areas

Attorney Alyssa E. Kisby-Meadows focuses her practice in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Trust Administration.

Alyssa entered the practice of law because of her passion to assist people in understanding and navigating a wide range of legal matters. This passion has evolved to guiding people through the complexities of estate planning and the probate process after the loss of a loved one.

She often sees clients during an emotionally complex time in their lives and strives to guide her clients through every aspect of the estate and trust administration process in a way that minimizes additional stress.

She prides herself on listening to her clients and learning about their lives and goals, because she believes that there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” estate plan.

Alyssa serves clients throughout Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, and Catawba Counties.

Professional
Bio

After law school, Alyssa entered private practice in Gastonia, NC maintaining a practice focused on individual and corporate litigation, construction litigation, workers’ compensation defense, local government tax foreclosures, and bankruptcy.

After 6.5 years of litigating, Alyssa made a career pivot and left "big law” to join a boutique law firm in Gaston County, which focused on Elder Law, Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Administration.

In 2024, she decided to make another big career change and form Legacy Law Firm allowing her to fulfill her vision of how law firms can break the mold and better serve their clients. This also allows her to keep an office in Gastonia, and to work remotely from her home in Dallas to be close to clients in Lincoln and Catawba County. She is also an expert in working remotely from her car anywhere she is needed.

Alyssa is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and the Federal Court in the Western District of North Carolina. She is a member of the Gaston County Bar, North Carolina State Bar Association, American Bar Assocation, and the Gaston Business Association.

For several years, she served on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run of Gaston County.

Education

Alyssa is a graduate of Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy and minors in History and Documentary Studies.  While at Duke, she joined Chi Omega Fraternity.

After undergrad, she crossed the dividing line and received her law degree from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of Law in 2014.  During law school, she participated in the UNC Juvenile Justice Clinic in Durham, Orange, and Wake Counties.

Alyssa is also a graduate of Wealth Counsel’s Elder Law Immersion program.

Personal
Bio

Alyssa was born in Texas and raised in both Gastonia and Dallas, Gaston County. She currently resides in Dallas, North Carolina with her husband, two daughters, niece, and nephew in one big, blended family.

As a parent of a child with unilateral deafness and a working mom of four, Alyssa is sensitive to the unique circumstances every family may be experiencing, which can impact both your availability and your estate plan.

Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and gardening with her family.
